I bought this for my wife’s birthday, and was originally considering purchasing a Bose sound wave CD system. I really liked the Bose sound quality, and was almost willing to put out the 0 to get that sound wave II system. But then I saw this panasonic unit, and went to a local dealer to check it out, and it sounded not too bad, but I didn’t test it with a high quality CD. So took the chance with it (and had considered returning it if it did not sound as good a I thought it would).br /The set up was really easy, and when I tested Celine Dion and Kenny G CDs in it, played around with the EQ and bass/treble settings, the sound is REALLY good for the price! The highs were nice and clear, no clipping or breaking. The bass was nice and solid, though it will never compete against dedicated hi-fi speakers with large woofers. I ten slowly turned up the volume, and the sound truly filled the large living room in my home, and remained clear and crisp. I have to say I am impressed given the relatively cheaper price in comparison to the Bose. I may dare say that, I am now hard pressed to say that I would be willing to pay that extra 0 for a Bose unit that sounds maybe marginally better (of course the hi-fo afficiniandos will say the Bose sounds a 1000X better). Build quality is really good. The bamboo cone technology really works… definitely recommended.
